A 26-year-old suspect was arrested soon after he allegedly attacked and stabbed a woman in her home on a plot in Cape Road in Greenbushes, in Port Elizabeth.
Police said that the attacker, who is an employee of her husband, left the 44-year-old woman tied up in her garage with a knife stuck in her neck.
Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said that in spite of this the woman managed to untie herself, break the garage window to get out and alert neighbour’s living on the same plot.
She said the woman was rushed to hospital with the knife still in her neck.
Naidu said the attack took place on Friday morning when the suspect arrived at the house claiming to have left his identity document in their garage.
“She went with him to the garage and while still walking he attacked her with a knife. She was stabbed several times. The suspect tied her hands and feet and left her in the garage with the knife still stuck in her neck,” said Naidu.
She said the suspect was later arrested on Mission Road in Kuyga by members of the Cash in Transit and Hijacking Task Team which assisted in the search for him.
A case of house robbery and attempted murder is currently under investigation and further charges could be added.
