A joint intelligence led operation by Port Elizabeth police has resulted in the arrest of three suspects and the confiscation of drugs and medicated tablets worth thousands of rand.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the operation was conducted between 10 o'clock on Thursday night and five o'clock on Friday morning.
She says members from the National Intervention Unit, PE Flying Squad and PE K9 Unit executed several search warrants at suspected drug lords houses in the Gelvandale and Bethelsdorp areas with a special focus on firearms and drugs.
At a house in Phyllis Street in Shauderville, a 21 year-old man was arrested for possession of dagga and illegal possession of medicated tablets.
A total of 7619 still pain tablets, 35 100ml bottles of cough syrup, 900 Purata tablets and a small amount of dagga and cash were seized.
The estimated value of the drugs is R15 000.
Colonel Naidu says that at two am on Friday, a 30 year-old man was arrested in Kalota Street in Bloemendal while a 42 year-old suspect was arrested at a house in Kronenberg Street, Bethelsdorp.
A total of 28 rolls of dagga, two scales and 350 grams of loose dagga with a total estimated value of R5000 was seized.
Both suspects are being held in custody and are expected to appear in court soon.
