Police divers from East London recovered the body of a boy who drowned at Peddie outside King Williams Town on Sunday.
Spokesperson Captain Khaya Tonjeni says police received a report of a drowning incident and immediately mobilised a team who rushed to the scene.
He says upon arriving at the Cruston Dam in the Celetyuma area in Peddie, eyewitnesses showed them the area where the drowning occurred.
Within 20 minutes divers recovered the body of the 10-year-old child.
He was identified as Lithemba Platana.
The community expressed their gratitude and relief after the body was recovered.
An inquest docket was opened.
