Port Elizabeth police are investigating a murder and suicide following the death of a two year old boy and his 29-year-old mother.
Police spokesperson, captain Stanley Jarvis, says a relative found the body of the two year old boy in a house in Palmridge, in the northern areas.
He says the boy had been stabbed 28 times.
Jarvis says child's mother was found hanging from a rope tied to a beam on the roof.
He says the husband, who is a security guard, was at work at the time of the incident.
