A 31 year-old Johannesburg man spent last night behind bars after making a bomb threat at the East London airport on Wednesday afternoon. .
Police captain Stephen Marais says the man was about to board a Kulula flight to Johannesburg when he told staff he had a large cache of weapons with him.
Marais says it was ascertained that the man was joking but he's being held for contravening the civil aviation act and will appear in the East London Magistrate's court on Thursday.
He says this is the second such incident at the East London airport in the past two weeks - adding that these pranks are a serious drain on police resources.
