Police in Port Elizabeth has appealed for information and assistance from the community after the body of a young girl was found in the gorge of the Van Der Kemp Kloof on Friday.
Police Spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says four friends walking their dogs in the reserve on Friday made the gruesome discovery and alerted the Betheldsdorp police.
She says the girl is approximately between 10 and 12 years old and her identity unknown at this stage.
Janse van Rensburg says police will now look at reports of missing persons at various police stations.
The cause of death is unknown and will be determined once a post-mortem has been done.
Police are however investigating a case of murder.
