The body of an elderly man was found with multiple stab wounds on Brighton Beach in Port Elizabeth on Thursday morning.
Police spokesperson, Col Pricilla Naidu says according to police information, Christian Joshua Opperman from Bluewater Bay parked his vehicle and strolled on the beach at around 4am.
She says he spoke to fishermen before disappearing behind the sand dunes.
Naidu says a jogger later alerted a security guard of his body lying on the beach.
Opperman’s cellphone, wallet and car keys were missing.
Naidu says police suspect that robbery was the motive for the attack.
Police have opened a case of murder and is appealing to anyone who can assist in their investigation to contact the Mount Road police.
