Port Elizabeth police are urgently seeking the mother of a newborn baby boy, who was found dumped in a rubbish bin in Summerstrand on Sunday morning.
Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu says according to police information, a vagrant made the discovery in a bin at the corner of Beach Road and 2nd Avenue.
She says the umbilical cord was still attached to the naked child.
Naidu says the baby was already dead.
A case of concealment of birth was opened and is under investigation.
Anyone who can assist in tracing the mother, or is suspicious of anyone who may have been recently pregnant, is asked to contact the Humewood police station.
