A body, believed to be that of missing Meghan Cremer, was discovered at 1 am on Thursday morning on a farm in the Western Cape.
Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk said in a statement a 30-year-old woman, who lived in Philippi, was reported missing on the third of August.
Cremer, who is originally from Knysna, was last seen on Saturday evening.
Van Wyk says on the same evening at about 8 pm police arrested three male suspects ages 27, 34 and 35 for the illegal possession of presumably a stolen motor vehicle. The investigation brought to light that the car indeed belonged to the 30-year-old female reported as missing to local police.
"Our investigation and search operation led us to a sand mine on a Philippi farm this morning (Thursday) at around 01:00 where the body of the missing person was found," he said.
The trio will appear in the Athlone Magistrate's Court on Thursday where they have been charged with the illegal possession of a stolen vehicle.
The 27-year-old will face a further charge of murder.
Cremer was a former student at Rhodes University in Makhanda.
