Eastern Cape police have confirmed that the body of a 51-year-old woman, who was kidnapped at Tsitsa Bridge near the N2 on Thursday, has been found.
Spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni says she was found with a bullet wound to the upper body at Qanqu locality on Saturday afternoon.
He says she was also strangled.
Tonjeni says she was found by children who went to collect sheep from a forest in the locality.
They informed the community, who alerted the police and she was positively identified by her family.
Her handbag is still missing.
It is alleged that the victim and her 22-year-old son were travelling from Mabaleni locality Tina Falls to Qumbu on Thursday when they were hijacked by two men in a silver Polo with a Durban registration number.
Captain Tonjeni says the son was pistol-whipped and shots were fired.
The suspects then bundled the woman into their vehicle before fleeing the scene.
