An elderly Eastern Cape couple has been found murdered in their homestead in Mswakazi Locality in Lusikisiki.
Police spokesperson, Captain Kaya Tonjeni, said that the bodies of the 91-year-old man and his 85-year-old wife were found on Friday by a neighbour.
They were found inside the bedroom with stab wounds to the upper body.
“The community became suspicious when they couldn't see the couple's granddaughter. A search was conducted and her body was later found hanging from a tree with a rope tied to her neck,” he said.
Tonjeni said bloodstains were visible on her clothes and shoes.
“It was also discovered that the bloody shoeprints found at the house of the deceased couple matched the takkies that the young woman was wearing,” he said.
The names of the deceased have not yet been released.
