The body that has been found on the rocks in Mossel Bay on Wednesday has been identified as that of 21-year-old Arnold van der Mescht.
Van der Mescht went missing on the 20th of March when he was hit by a freak wave near a cave below Cecil Sheppard Street.
The victim lived in Albertinia and visited Mossel Bay with friends.
Fishermen spotted the body on Wednesday and police divers then helped to retrieve it from the water.
The body was found about 600m’s from where Van der Mescht went missing.
Rescue teams and an EMS helicopter helped to lift the body from the rocks on Thursday and handed it over to forensics on the scene.
