A Gqeberha woman, accused of strangling her boyfriend's child to death on Maitlands Beach this week, made another brief court appearance on Friday.
Twenty-five-year-old Lesley-ann Damons allegedly hiked to Maitlands with nine-year-old Quinisha Sebrand on Monday, where she strangled the child and left her body lying on the beach.
Her body was recovered later when Damons reported the matter to the satellite police station in Seaview.
During Friday's court proceedings, the State asked for a postponement in order to prepare their case, as they are charging Damon with a Schedule 6 offence.
The matter was postponed to the 8th of April for the start of bail proceedings and until then, Damons remains in custody.
Outraged community members were in court during Damons' initial court appearance on Thursday and demanded that she not be granted bail.
They also maintained that not even a life sentence would be enough justice to bring back the life of an innocent child.
