The body of a 36-year-old man was found lying in an open field in Babathane Street in Walmer location, Port Elizabeth, on Monday morning.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says that according to police information, Mzwanele Memeta of Songolo Street sustained multiple wounds to the head.
His body was also partially burnt.
He was last seen on Sunday night by a family member.
At this stage circumstances surrounding his death are unknown.
There have been no arrests and a case of murder is currently under investigation.
