The body of a 18 year old man from Centane was recovered in the Kei river on Saturday afternoon.
Lieutenant Nkosikho Mzuku says the East London search and rescue dog unit, Police divers, and various police stations conducted the search.
He says the deceased and his two friends were allegedly looking for his father's missing cattle near Kei Mouth farms.
They were chased to the river by the security guards of the nearby game reserve.
Mzuku says the other two men managed to survive.
Police have opened a case of inquest, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
