Nelson Mandela Bay Deputy Mayor, Mongameli Bobani said the future of the coalition between the UDM and the DA in the Metro is in the hands of the coalition leaders.
Bobani was axed from the position of Mayoral Committee member, heading the Public Health Directorate, by Executive Mayor Athol Trollip on Tuesday.
Trollip said the Health Directorate had been of concern for a number of months - given serious allegations of maladministration which were being investigated.
He said Bobani's public behaviour and conduct had also been unacceptable as a member of the Mayoral Commitee.
Bobani has denied all allegations of corruption in the Public Health Directorate, and in turn, accused Trollip of lying about him missing mayoral commitee meetings.
He also responded to Trollip's statement, regarding beginning the process of removing him as Deputy Mayor - through council.
Bobani said the DA ony has 57 councillors and will therefore have their work cut out to remove him.
He added that the Mayor had better be very sure about his facts before making any announcements as it could backfire on him.
UDM Leader Bantu Holomisa confirmed to Algoa Fm News on Wednesday that the party leaders will meet soon to discuss the future of the Nelson Mandela Bay coalition.
Holomisa also rejected the move by Trollip to remove Bobani from his position as Head of the Public Health Directorate.
