Blood crisis looms in the Eastern Cape

The South African National Blood Service in the Eastern Cape says blood stocks are not looking good as the Festive season looms.

SANBS provincial head Elize Scheepers says they only have two days worth of stock left.

Ideally, there should be a five day supply available.

Scheepers says going into the holiday season, its going to be even harder, as they won't be able to collect blood from schools and companies becauses they will be closed.

She says the SA National Blood Service will start a blood drive in shopping malls and centers troughout the province in attempt to improve stocks.

Scheepers has pleaded with the general public to come forward and donate blood.
