Bishop lashes out at EC health department

Anglican bishop, Bethlehem Nopece, says the threat of disciplinary action against the three PE doctors who spoke out about the state of health in the Metro, is unacceptable and regrettable.

In a statement yesterday, the Bishop said that instead the Eastern Cape Health Department should engage with them to find lasting solutions to the crisis in health care in Nelson Mandela Bay and the province.

He said it is sad to note that health services, education and social welfare continue to deteriorate in their service delivery to the poor people of, not only the Metro, but also the Province of the Eastern Cape.

Bishop Nopece issued the statement as a member of the board of the PE Hospital Complex.
