The Department of Correctional Services in the Eastern Cape says nine groups of inmates will be presenting several performances at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.
Department spokesperson, Zama Feni, says these will include art displays and performances by brass bands as well as traditional music.
He says they also see this as an opportunity to help bridge the gap between their incarceration and the society which they had wronged, adding that is a step towards their social re-integration.
Feni stressed that only medium offenders will be permitted to attend and perform at the National Arts Festival.
