Graaff-Reinet police have opened a culpable homicide docket after a motorcyclist died in a collision with a truck on Tuesday night.
Police spokesperson, Captain Bradley Rawlinson, says the deceased was a 40-year-old, identified as Andrew Manel.
He says it is alleged that the 24-year-old driver of a Mercedes Benz truck lost control of the vehicle and collided with Manel's motorcycle in College Road at around 7.30 pm.
He says the driver was arrested and is due to appear in court soon on a charge of culpable homicide.
Rawlinson says the truck belongs to the Beyers Naude Local Municipality.
According to the Graaff-Reinet Advertiser, the truck driver was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.
