An empty ward on the third floor of the Provincial Hospital in Port Elizabeth will soon be the home of a modern Pediatric Oncology Ward, thanks to the generosity of the 9 000 people who took part in the 2014 Algoa FM Boardwalk Big Walk for Cancer.
Algoa FM and Sun Boardwalk will present Igazi Foundation with a cheque of R315 000 on Wednesday.
Algoa FM managing director, Dave Tiltmann says the event, which was held for the sixteenth time in October, exceeded the expectations of both the organisers and the walkers.
He says Algoa FM and Sun Boardwalk will purchase the equipment and other additional requirements to have the 25-bed ward ready at the Provincial Hospital by 2015.
