Two people have been arrested near George for being in possession of mandrax tablets worth an estimated R2.4m.
Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, says the men, aged 32 and 35, were arrested during an intelligence driven operation by members of Oudtshoorn's K-9 unit and members of the provincial narcotics investigation group.
He says the police stopped and searched the men's vehicle near Kraaibos Estate at George and found 48 bags each containing a thousand mandrax tablets concealed in panels of the vehicle.
Pojie says the men, from Sandton and Gugulethu in Cape Town will appear in court on Monday.
He says their vehicle was also confiscated.
