The Eastern Cape Government has spent 97.4 % of its total budget of just under R57.4b in the 2012/2013 financial year.
That's according to figures released by National Treasury.
The only department that underspent significantly on its conditional grants was Human Settlements which had failed to spend just under R291m in grant funding.
Transport and the Provincial Legislature both spent less than 50% of their capital budgets.
According to Treasury, the Eastern Cape Legislature spent R7.1m or 44.4% of its R16.m capital budget.
