The Eastern Cape Education Department says teaching and learning will start on the first hour of schools opening on Wednesday.
On Monday teachers around the province and the rest of the country return to school in preparation for the new school year.
Bhisho Education Department spokesperson Loyiso Pulumane says the department is happy with the fact that all learner/teacher support material has already been delivered to schools.
He says the next two days are meant to ensure that school management plans are put in place.
