The Eastern Cape Education Department has lifted the suspensions of 41 of the 54 officials who had been on suspension for two years or less.
Department spokesperson, Loyiso Pulumani, says this had been decided after careful consideration of relevant legislation and sound legal advice from the state legal advisor.
However, he says all pending disciplinary cases will continue, even the case of those officials who's suspensions have been lifted.
Pulumani says eight officials remain on suspension and involve educators accused of rape, sexual assault and improper relations with learners.
