The Eastern Cape Government has condemned the actions of a group of health workers who protested at Livingstone Hospital during Tuesday's visit by the Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize.
The group is believed to be community health workers who have been campaigning through the union Nehawu, to be permanently employed by the Department.
But, in a strongly-worded statement, Bhisho government spokesperson, Mvusi Sicwetsha, condemned what he said was the acts of tribalism exhibited by the group towards Minister Mkhize, who hails from Kwazulu Natal.
He says the group sang derogatory songs and hurled insults at the Minister.
Sicwetsha says they should apologise to Mkhize.
