Traffic officials from the Buffalo city Metro conducted a drunken driving operation over the weekend as part of its ongoing road safety operations.
Municipal Spokesperson Samkelo Ngwenya says 45 motorists were arrested for drunken driving.
He says the team also put the Drager device to the test, with good results.
Officials arrested 13 motorists driving under the influence of alcohol along the coast, six in Cambridge, 10 in Berlin and 14 in King Williams Town.
Ngwenya says 11 of their arrests were as a result of the Drager device, whilst blood samples were taken of other drivers.
