The Buffalo City Municipality (BCM) says it will ease water restrictions back to Stage 2 with immediate effect.
This decision was taken in council on Monday following a monthly status report on dam water levels and mitigation strategies.
The Metro says mitigation strategies will be implemented by exploring water pressure management.
Spokesperson, Samkelo Ngwenya says the reduction on BCM's infrastructure through the installation of many pressure reducing valves forms part of the strategies on the table.
The Metro says even though there is improvement in water dam levels due to recent rains, the drought is still rife and major dams are still low.
BCM introduced Stage 3 water restrictions 11 months ago.
