On Wednesday, a wanted suspect who has been on the run since 2017 was finally arrested by Kabega Park detectives in Motherwell, Gqeberha.
Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says 32-year-old Nqwenelo Tabatha was allegedly involved in a house robbery in Rocklands Road in Rocklands on the afternoon of 22 October 2015.
In the dramatic home invasion, she says that one suspect died after severing an artery when he jumped through a window while fleeing the scene.
Moments earlier, an accomplice sustained a gunshot wound to the chest in a scuffle for the homeowner's firearm.
The suspect survived the shooting but died two years later in an unrelated shooting incident.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says the remaining suspects, including Tabatha, fled the scene with the firearm, a phone and cash.
He was arrested in Kwazhakele in 2017 but was released pending DNA results which came back positive two months later.
A warrant of arrest was issued for Tabatha and following an intelligence-driven operation, he was tracked down and arrested in Motherwell.
He is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
