A 32-year-old Gqeberha man has been sentenced to life imprisonment after he kidnapped, robbed and raped a 14-year-old boy.
The accused, Anele Kakaza, was sentenced in the city's regional court on Wednesday following the incident on the 21st of January last year.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says Kakaza accosted the teenager, who was on his way home from soccer practice in Motherwell and threatened him with a knife.
She says the boy was forced to go with the accused where he was robbed of his jacket and raped at the back of a community hall.
Kakaza was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape,15 years for kidnapping and five years for robbery.
Colonel Naidu says the robbery and the kidnapping sentences will run concurrently with the life sentence.
