Authorities will conduct a second inspection of the Nooitgedacht Low-Level Scheme in Gqeberha ahead of the planned handover of the site later this month.
The inspection will be done by the Department of Water and Sanitation, Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and Amatola Water, the agent tasked to address the Metro's water crisis.
An inspection was done on Tuesday, with the second one being conducted on Thursday.
The planned handover of the refurbished water treatment works is on the 29th of this month, and the site is expected to help augment the water supply to Nelson Mandela Bay.
The Nooitgedacht water-treatment works treat water from the Gariep Dam that borders the Free State and Eastern Cape province.
This water then flows via the Orange-Fish River tunnel and a series of connected rivers to the Sundays River irrigation scheme.
From there it is piped, via the treatment works, to areas which include Gqeberha.
