A Gqeberha bookkeeper who started serving a 15-year prison sentence on Wednesday will be back in court at the end of the month.

Forty-four-year-old Linda Labuschagne misappropriated R2.4 million from two companies she worked for between 2017 and 2022.

Hawks spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela says Labuschagne was employed at the BVSA Tax Consultancy Firm and DP Wealth Tax Consultancy where she provided clients from both companies with bank accounts purporting to be those of SARS, whereas they were her bank details.

She says the firms received complaints from their clients and subsequently raised the alarm with the Hawks.

Labuschagne was out on bail before she was sentenced but was re-arrested during this time for allegedly continuing with her fraudulent tendencies.

Captain Mgolodela says she will be back in court on a new matter on the 26th of September.
