Fire fighters were still battling a runaway fire in the Garden Route National Park on Sunday, which had been raging for six days.
The fire started on private property on Monday and later spread to the Park in the vicinity of the Craggs near Plettenberg Bay, north of the N2.
Thousands of hectares of fynbos had been destroyed, but no injuries had been reported.
SanParks spokesperson, Nandi Mgwadlamba said although rain brought some relief on Friday and Saturday, a south easterly wind predicted for Sunday might cause a threat to fire fighting teams.
Working on Fire teams had since been joined by teams from the Free State and George.
Firefighters were working around the clock in 12 hour shifts.
Mgwadlamba said they were meeting on a daily basis to coordinate resources and strategies towards fighting the fire.
