Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Celiwe Binta has applauded the detective team for the swift arrest of a suspect in connection with the double murder of an elderly couple in the Barkly East District.
A 22-year-old Lesotho man is expected to appear in court this week on charges of murder and attempted murder.
"The detective team, worked tirelessly combing the crime scene for clues and arrested the suspect, within 9 hours of the incident reported to the police", said Binta.
The man who works in the town was arrested after the bodies of Dawid and Ralie de Villiers were found on their farm, Broadlands by their daughter on Wednesday morning.
Their 53-year-old son, Dawie, was seriously injured in the attack in which they all suffered stab wounds and cuts. He is in a serious condition in a Bloemfontein hospital.
Police spokesperson, Captain Ursula Roelofse says at this stage they are not looking for any more suspects.
