The 22 year old man from Lesotho who was arrested on Wednesday for the murders of the elderly Dawid and Ralie de Villiers of Barkly East and the attempted murder on their son, Dawie, will only appear in court on Tuesday.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson Ursula Roelofse says Barkly East doesn't have a permanent court, and the first sitting of the periodical court in town is on Tuesday.
The retired couple were in their 80's and were murdered on their farm in the early hours on Wednesday.
Dawie, who has brain damage, lived with them.
The couple's only daughter, Christina, came across the murderer at the homestead.
She then discovered the bodies of her parents and found her seriously injured brother inside the house.
Several hours later the alleged killer was arrested in town.
Dawie is in Mediclinic Bloemfontein with multiple stab wounds and cuts - his condition is critical but stable.
