Port Elizabeth police are investigating a case of murder following the finding of a decomposing body in the Maitlands area.
Warrant officer Alwin Labans says the body of a man was found on Thursday by wood cutters near the Maitlands braai area.
He says the headless body was found alongside two bags of dried perlemoen.
"When police arrived they found two bags of dried perlemoen near the body, it looked like it had been there for a while. Police also found that the body was naked. At first we thought it was a body of a female but with the help of forensics we determined that it was a male and found that his genitals had been cut off." said Labans
