A police bomb squad was dispatched to a bank in Qonce (King Williams Town) on Tuesday afternoon after a threat was received.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says it is alleged that the manager of the FNB branch in town received a bomb threat at about 3 pm.
She says according to the manager he received a letter indicating that there were explosive devices inside the bank.
The Manager immediately and safely evacuated staff and customers while alerting police.
Colonel Naidu says the bomb squad was on the scene for several hours conducting a thorough search with the K9 unit.
No devices were found.
A case was opened for further investigation.
