A sports bag containing cocaine valued at nearly R9 million has washed up on the beach at the popular Hartenbos beach near Mossel Bay.
The bag was attached to a blue container when it was retrieved late on Thursday afternoon.
Holidaymakers spotted the bag and dragged it to the beach.
A man has told Die Burger that he noticed the substance, which was packed in plastic bags, when he cut open the sports bag.
He contacted the police, which removed the bag and its contents.
The cocaine is said to be valued at more than R8.7-million.
