A seven-month-old baby has been killed in a shooting incident in Zwide, Port Elizabeth, in which her 40-year-old father was also shot in a "hit-style" murder.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre' Beetge, said man's 32-year-old wife was able to take cover when the shooting started and was unharmed.
He said the incident happened on Wednesday night in Mabaso Street in Veeplaas when two suspects kicked open the door to Siyabulela Vena's house.
Beetge said one of the suspects fired several shots towards Vena and his baby daughter Asesakhe, who were both hit and died on the scene.
He said the two suspects fled the scene without taking any valuables.
The motive for the murders is therefore still unclear, but Beetge said detectives would be investigating all avenues.
