A 26-year-old Gqeberha man has been arrested in connection with the death of his 10-month old baby.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says the incident happened on Tuesday night when the boy's mother took him to visit his father in Bethelsdorp Extension 36.
She says the man allegedly assaulted the child in the face with his fists when the baby did not stop crying.
Naidu says the man chased the woman away and kept the child behind.
She says on Wednesday morning when she returned to the house, she found the baby dead in the bed.
The father was detained on a charge of murder and will appear in court next Monday.
