Eastern Cape traffic authorities said at least 11 people were killed in several accidents across the province in the past 24 hours.
Provincial traffic spokesperson, Charles Bramwell, said that three people were killed on the N10 near Cradock on Friday night when their vehicle collided head-on with a truck.
He said the deceased were all local residents from Cradock.
Meanwhile, three people were also killed when two cars collided head-on near Mount Ayliff on Friday night.
Bramwell said two people were injured in that accident while one person died and five people were injured when the driver of a light delivery vehicle lost control and crashed.
"Two were hospitalised with serious injuries while three others suffered minor injuries," he said.
In another accident reported on the road between Komani, formerly Queenstown, and Cofinvaba, a passenger died when the driver of a car lost control over the vehicle and it overturned.
Bramwell said that three people were also killed Friday night in an accident on the R67 between Komani and Whittlesea.
Three people were also injured in a multi-vehicle collision on the N2 at Seven Fountains outside Makanda, formerly Grahamstown, on Saturday morning.
Fortunately, there were no fatalities.
