Police in the Eastern Cape are seeking the community's assistance in tracing a 30-year-old man who is believed to have brutally murdered his mother in Libode.
SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Kaya Matola-Mvanyashe, says the victim who lived with her son and his two-year-old daughter, worked as an assistant nurse at the Ngolo clinic.
According to information, the deceased would leave her granddaughter at the neighbour's house when she went to work.
Sergeant Matola-Mvanyashe says on Sunday, when she failed to fetch her daughter after work, the neighbour's 10-year-old accompanied the child home where they made the grim discovery.
Sergeant Matola-Mvanyashe says she sustained multiple stab wounds.
A Bible and a knife were found on top of her body.
Further circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated and a case of murder has been opened.
