Assault charges against George mayor withdrawn

George mayor, Charles Standers won't be  prosecuted for the assault case that was laid against him by his wife in February this year.

This comes after his wife, Estie withdrew the charge against the mayor.

Police spokesperson, capt Malcolm Pojie said the Director of Public Prosecution investigated the docket after which it was announced that Standers won't be prosecuted.

Although Standers was suspended from the DA, the suspension was lifted last month.

It is alleged that Standers and his wife is now getting divorced.
