The ANC has condemned what it said was an arson attempt at its head quarters, Chief Albert Luthuli House.
ANC spokesperson, Jackson Mthembu, says a suspicious fire broke out at the reception of the building next to the main entrance early on Tuesday evening.
He says the arson attempt was foiled by the timeous intervention by ANC security personnel who extinguished the fire.
Mthembu told Algoa FM News why he believes this was an attack on the ruling the party.
"There was a bottle containing chemicals that was left under our reception couch. it is that bottle that exploded and set the couch on fire. That bottle did not bring itself there and the chemicals that were in the bottle did not bring themselves. The police are investigating a case of arson" he said.
