Eastern Cape police are searching for a five suspects who robbed a branch of Absa bank in Joubertina on Tuesday morning.
Police spokesperson, warrant officer Marianette Olivier, says one of the tellers was assaulted with a firearm and sustained head injuries.
She the suspects fled with an undisclosed sum of money of money in black Corsa bakkie.
Olivier says all neighboring stations, including those from the Western Cape, have been alerted to be on the lookout for the suspects.
Anyone who may have information should contact their nearest police station.
Meanwhile, Absa said in a brief statement that its security division is working closely with the police on the investigation.
The branch has been closed to the public while investigations are underway and clients can use the Absa branch in Kareedouw.
