Armed men on the run following robbery in Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth police are searching for at least four men who robbed security personnel loading cash into an ATM at a supermarket in Walmer.

Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says G4S guards had arrived at the Spar supermarket just after 8.30 on Wednesday morning to replenish the cash in an ATM inside the store.

She says the guards were confronted by four men who took their firearms and the money before fleeing in a Mazda bakkie.

Janse Van Rensburg says no shots were fired and no arrests made.
