Police in Kariega are investigating a case of malicious damage to property after a truck was torched on the R334, Rocklands Road on Wednesday.
Spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, said the truck driver and his two passengers were driving when they allegedly spotted children throwing stones towards the truck at about 7 P.M.
It is alleged that a group of people then suddenly came out of the bushes throwing burning objects towards the truck.
Swart said the occupants then jumped out as the truck started to burn.
She said no arrests have yet been made and the total value of the damage is about R200 000.
Police are monitoring the situation closely and motorists are advised to make use of alternative routes.
