The Hawks in the Eastern Cape have arrested another suspect in connection with two big busts last year in which police seized abalone with a total value of over R3 million.

Spokesperson, Warrant Officer Ndiphiwe Mhlakuvana, said the suspect managed to evade arrest since 10 alleged accomplices were arrested in Algoa Park in Gqeberha in May.

The arrests related to the arrests of suspects in Cradock in May, 2021 for being in the illegal possession of 4 400 units of abalone and valued at R2 million.

He said the suspect will appear in court on Monday.
