One killed in Nelson Mandela Bay crash

One person was killed while three others were injured in a collision between two vehicles on the R75 in Nelson Mandela Bay.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the accident happened happened early on Sunday evening near the Joe Slovo informal settlement.

She said an Opel Corsa vehicle and a VW Polo GTI were travelling in the same direction in the direction of Despatch.

"It is alleged that the VW Polo GTI drove into the back of the Opel Corsa. Both vehicles were in the same lane," Naidu said.

She said the 52 driver of the Opel Corsa, who was alone in the vehicle, died on the scene, while three occupants in the other car, two men and a woman, were taken to hospital for treatment.

Naidu said the name of the deceased will be released later.

A case of culpable homicide is being investigated by SAPS Despatch.
