A 43 year-old man was shot and killed in Helenvale, Port Elizabeth in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Warrant Officer Alwin Labans says the incident could be gang related.
He says the man apparently heard someone calling for him outside his house in Chamoi street at around 2-30 am.
When he looked out the window, he was shot once in the face and died at the scene.
Police are looking for one suspect.

Port Elizabeth police are investigating two cases of culpable homicide following separate road fatalities in the city late on Friday afternoon.
Warrant officer Labans says a 23 year-old man was killed when the Toyota Hilux bakkie he was driving overturned after he hit a truck while trying to overtake on the Old Grahamstown Road - travelling from Swartkops.
And on the N2 near Commercial road, a padestrian was killed when he was hit by a truck.
Labans says the man was wearing a khaki jacket and blue jeans and that they're asking for the public's assistance in identifying him
